Rhino Handmade is pleased to announce the second in a series of VHS video box set releases of classic television programs from the legendary Sid & Marty Krofft archive. Featured this time is a 4-tape VHS collection we have authoritatively titled The Complete Bugaloos: Episodes 1 To 17.

In 1970, brothers Sid and Marty Krofft, who were then riding high with the success of H.R. Pufnstuf, introduced their second offering into the Saturday morning TV lineup, The Bugaloos. As with many of the other Krofft programs, such as H.R. Pufnstuf, Lidsville, and Land Of The Lost, The Bugaloos featured perfectly normal people who somehow found themselves thrust into a strange world, trying to find a way home.

In this specific case, The Bugaloos was live action show, mixed with the patented Krofft puppets, about a British teenage rock group called The Bugaloos. They had wings and antennae, and they were supposed to be bugs, hence their name, but unlike other types of winged insects, they could not just only fly. Often times, you may recall if you have seen the show, they rode on surfboards across the sky instead. The Bugaloos lived in a place called Tranquility Forest, near Rock Land, which was the last of the British colonies, we are told, and located about sixteen kilometers outside of Rock City.

All told, 17 half-hour episodes of Sid And Marty Krofft's The Bugaloos were produced for the NBC. They began airing on September 12, 1970 and finished up on September 2, 1972. In 1999 Rhino Home Video released two different single VHS tapes, each containing two different Bugaloos episodes, as well as a boxed set commemorating all of the work of Sid & Marty Krofft and including one additional episode. That means that there are an additional twelve episodes of The Bugaloos that have, until now, been collecting dust in The Lost Beehive in the Tranquility Forest. We have gone back to the original Bugaloos sources and have lovingly placed all 17 original color episodes on four convenient VHS tapes that fit into one convenient box. Air guitars not included.

The Complete Bugaloos: Episodes 1 To 17 VHS Box Set is available as an individually-numbered limited edition of 3,000 copies.
